Lyrics

Crockerland,
Crockerland,
(Crock-o’-shit).

I am sailing out,
I am sailing out,
I am sailing out,
I am sailing out for you,
I will find you a land to call your own,
And I’ll name that land after you.

I have now returned,
I have now returned,
I have now returned,
I have now returned for you,
I have mapped an island in your name,
But I need funds to make it your home.

I’m sailing again,
I’m sailing again,
I’m sailing again,
I’m sailing again for you,
Don’t follow me, my map may not be right,
Your island and I might disappear.

Notes

As part of the Phantom Islands album, this song explores a theme based on the name of an island that once appeared on old maps but has now been proven not to exist.

Crocker Land was a fictitous island used by Robert Peary as the pretext to gain financial backing for an expedition from George Crocker in 1913 (see this Wikipedia article).

This is a straightforward pop track in the mould of 2001's Bubblewrap.

The track was released to the web on the 13 January 2017, ahead of the Phantom Islands album later that month.
